I'm not sure what Yaesu had in mind when they designed the DMU-2000. I have listed some of the things that are good and bad about this very expensive piece of equipment. The current version of my DMU is 5.11 but there are 2 different CPU boards used in the system, the other version is 4.21. My version boots with a Phoenix BIOS.

bulletIt uses a clunky keyboard interface and no mouse. You will wear out your radio function buttons trying to set it up.
bulletThe world clock and map is marginally useful but the city selection really sucks.
bulletThe spectrum scope is the best feature about the unit but is not easy or intuitive to change settings on.
bulletThe audio and oscilloscope scope are also good features.
bulletNow for the log book, WHY??? It has manual entry, no spot collector capability, no lookup ability. You have to add another keyboard to your desktop to use it. I cannot imagine anyone using it but the most casual of users and even they would tire of this mess. Get rid of it and put something more useful in it's place or better yet activate the Ethernet and incorporate QRZ etc lookup and spot capability.
bulletOther features that are also useful include the SWR, temperature indicators, graphic meter displays, rotator control, VFO, filter status and machine list. Most of the features except RF and AF scope are available with Awh_MC software package for the FT-2000. The new version may even implement some of the RF and AF scope capabilities.
