This page will help with the initial installation.

To install DXlabs software first install DXLauncher. Scroll down until you see the button "Install Launcher". Spend some time on this page familiarizing yourself with the software. If you decide to use DXLabs be patient, there is a lot to these programs and before long it will be routine to use them. It took me a week or maybe a little more to become comfortable using it. I will discuss DX Atlas later since it is a separate product and is not free.

When you have downloaded DXlauncher  and if you are running Windows 7 (32 or 64 bit) then right click on the application and run it for the first time as Administrator. If you are running Windows 7 64 bit let the applications DXLabs install in the default c:\dxlab directory. I tried the Program Files(x86) where most normal 32 bit applications go but there seemed to be too many quirky problems. According to Dave, AA6YQ, it is a protected directory and you have to have special rights to write configuration files in it. My question is why not put the files in the user's document directory or in appdata\local in the users profile.

DXLab wants to install in the root directory and it is best if you put it there, any place else will just cause you a lot of headaches.

DXLab Launcher

This is what the initial Launcher install screen should look like. The only shortcut you will need on the desktop will be the DXLauncher.

When you click on the Config button you will only see the launcher program installed. Ignore the directory shown above, it should show c:\dxlab\Launcher\DXlabLauncher.exe.

When installing the individual apps you do not need a desktop shortcut.

The two images are of the DX Launcher and it's configuration screen. The red dots means the application is not running, yellow is minimized, green means it is running and is maximized. The configuration screen shows which applications are installed and if Enab is checked will launch when start is pressed. When you first install DX launcher under action it will indicate install for each application at this point you will install each app and it will also update to the latest revision. The only 2 apps I do not launch automatically are PropView and WinWarbler.  When all apps are installed click on New to update all databases. Launcher will check for new apps and databases each time you launch it.

Apps Started Before DXLab Apps

You can start an app or apps before DXLab starts on the above screen. Term_13K_USB and N1MMRotor, HFAUTO and mmty are enabled and will start before the rest of DXLab starts.. I start them minimized.

Term_1.3K_USB    controld my Expert 1.3K amp. See my Expert page for more info.
N1MMRotor controls my Yaesu G-2800DXA and my G800DXA.
HFAUTO controls my Palstar HF-AUTO tuner
mmty interfaces with WinWarbler for RTTY

Apps Started After DXLab Apps

If you have an app or apps that must start after DXLab starts then use the screen above. If you are using Multipsk it is best to start DXLab first.
