When buying a HW-5400 make sure it has the HWA-5400-2 option. This is a 4-pole 2.1 KHz SSB filter part number 404-640.

Several of the parts in this rig are also obsolete. Heath does not give a
cross-reference for the display. It is probably a Futaba but a special
manufacture for Heathkit. Make sure if you buy this unit that the 2
options HWA-5400-2 & 3 are included otherwise you will probably never find them.
I was lucky enough to find a new display on eBay and very luck to win it. I have
picked up a second new display from eBay and the seller offered me a HW-5400
that was never completely assembled. It looks to be complete but I will
use it for parts. If you decide to buy one of these keep in mind that the
microprocessor is a preprogrammed Mostek unit that is not available anymore.
If it goes bad then the radio is of little use. Once again I was lucky enough to
buy a spare 5400 very cheap plus the unit had a brand new spare microprocessor
with it. The only thing missing were the optional SSB filters.
